Video on YouTube

Today’s show was live via YouTube on Tuesday morning (6am EST weekly). It was on the topic of “3 Practices to Heal Your Broken Heart”. This is episode 16 of season for on Plant Your Seeds of Transformation. Coach Donna Marie gives you, as a family caregiver, insight and information to help you understand how grief is caused by the perception that your prayers have not been answered. She listed 3 daily practices you can start using to bring healing to your broken heart and to enhance your faith.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

~1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)

Take Aways and Notes:

  • Caregivers are leaders who also have goals and dreams, like everyone else, but they may be delayed by trauma and even further delayed by the grief that follows the trauma
  • Caregivers are told to take care of themselves, but many times are not properly supported in taking better care of themselves.
  • In this episode, I talk more about the God aspect of caregivers being cared for with 3 daily practices you can use to heal your broken heart after unanswered prayers. Write (or record) a daily journal entry for each of these three:
    • Joy
    • Prayer
    • Gratefulness
  • Scripture Reference: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
  • Taking action with these three daily practices is an act of faith. It’s a way to put action to the faith that is overflowing from within your heart.

Signs That You Aren’t A Good Mental Health Caregiver For Your Loved One

Coach Donna Marie shares insights about signs that you may not be a good mental health caregiver for your loved one in episode 14 of Season 4 on the Plant Your Seeds of Transformation Podcast.

Real change takes time. Unfortunately, the contemporary culture we live in is all about fast and now. It’s not healthy for any human being to be so shortsighted and impatient. It is dangerous and can lead to committing fraud and making other unhealthy choices.

What To Expect In Episode 14

Our video for today was live via YouTube on Tuesday morning (time is changing to 6am on Tuesdays). It was on the topic of “Signs That You Aren’t A Good Mental Health Caregiver For Your Loved One”. Coach Donna Marie gives you information to help you become more curious about this so you and your loved ones can move forward and thrive. If you are a caregiver to someone dealing with chronic, severe mental illness challenges, or if you love someone else who is this type of caregiver, please pass this on. Also… I know that I do not have all of the answers here, so, if you want to contribute to this conversation positively, send a message or share a comment so we can support one another.

“Beautiful naturally formed arches are amazing… it’s amazing what water can do (slowly) over time to re-shape hard rock.” ~ Coach Donna Marie

Important Takeaways:

  • Having faith that things will change or improve eventually means nothing without having the patience to keep doing the daily (sometimes boring) things needed for both your own self-care as well as for the care of others. This is where coaching can really support you. To learn more and enroll in my coaching program, go to LeadLikeAQueen.com/enrollment. If you become a new coaching client and tell me that you saw this episode, you can claim a free journal.
  • Taking shortcuts (due to impatience) will not help, and could do a lot of damage. Learning the proper steps for moving forward in life is essential when you’re recovering from trauma or crisis. An example of a shortcut that’s relevant in the mental health space is choosing street drugs or recreational drugs over seeking medical support from a licensed psychiatrist. This can only delay mental health healing. Please seek help if this is a concern for you or a loved one by calling 988 on any mobile phone.
  • Being negative, pessimistic, critical, or judgmental are all characteristics that can damage mental health further, and should be avoided when caring for someone who’s struggling. And if you can’t avoid these negative patterns, or if you find yourself always using guilt and shame to try to control them, then maybe let someone else become the mental health caregiver for your loved one until you can start improving in this area with help from your own mental health therapist.
